One week on the road. We are in Spain 😀
In France, there were very nice car parks at the highway. Clean toilets and benches in the trees. A good place to spend the night. Unfortunately, we changed the motorway to the expressway and we couldn’t find any parking at all. It was dark already and, as I said before, looking for a place to sleep in the darkness is much more difficult.
We noticed roundabout in front of us, and a town on the left. It was one of those beautiful French towns with stone houses and small castles. On the right, there were orchards and some space, enough for few cars. On the left one camper was standing, on the right a passenger car. We decided to stay and we chose the right side. As we did it, we noticed that the car was standing there for a long time. It was a bit battered and without air in the wheels. After dinner, we went to sleep. Next morning we ate second (the first was pizza) hot dish during our journey – scrambled eggs! With full
Next morning we ate second (the first was pizza) hot dish during our journey – scrambled eggs! With full stomachs, we drove through the Pyrenees to Spain.
The bad news is that somewhere on the road jars with homemade preserves fell down and unscrewed so we will have to throw some of them out. Unfortunately 🙁 Moreover, we had a lot of work as the liquid spilled in the chest of our bed. We stopped at one of petrol stations in Spain. We had to take out everything, clean the things and the floor, change dirty bags and put everything back. The worst was the smell. Good thing is that we have the perfect order now.
Another bad news – the front window is broken. We think it is because of bad assembly (it is not the original window) and change of temperature (it was very warm in Italy and then in the night it was heavy raining). Yesterday we noticed a small scratch on the driver side at the bottom, today it went slightly further. Keep the fingers crossed that it will stay like it is!
Third news – the cash has finished. On the highway, there are plenty of gates and on some of them, we couldn’t use our card. Good, I had some cash on me. But then I spent all of it and we were a little afraid that we won’t find ATM before the next gate. What should we do then? Fortunately, we found a shopping center with ATM. We also bought 5l water for 2 euro and three baguettes for 1 euro.
Our exit was closed and we had to go back to the last road junction. GPS directed us to the road on the right. We went there, but… the asphalt ended after few meters, with only gravel road further on. It led abruptly down with a curve so we weren’t able to see what is behind it. Anyway, we didn’t have a possibility of going back, so we drove slowly down. And we found ourselves by the river under the big bridge. We used the water to wash our dishes and we stayed there for a dinner.
Followed the gravel road we reached the motorway exactly where we should – Valencia direction.
We didn’t reach Valencia that day, though. It was almost 8 p.m. and the night was slowly falling. We got off the highway to look for a wild camping place. We passed through many side roads, but some of them were closed, there were signs “private” at the others, and we didn’t have enough time to turn to the rest, cause we were followed by a TIR. Finally, we managed to turn to the park with small trees and windmills. White windmills were so huge from so close. One of the roads led us to the entry ban, the other to the main road, and the last one down to the glade. When the dusk is around, you cannot see very well, and your imagination begins to work. We knew we were somewhere in Spanish woods, between windmills and gas main (there were pillars with “gas” on them), but we didn’t know what is further around or what animals could we expect. The silence was distracted only by the wings of windmills.
